We have a wider assortment of Steam games.

So I got Bub a whole bunch of games off of Steam, to include many of his favorites, since we have a functioning USB controller (con? joystick? well, it’s not really a joystick). Right now, we’ve been playing Final Fantasy VI. We just got to the point where Sabin separates from the party and you can choose which group of characters you want to do the quests for in whatever order you’d like. I have Fioricet on hand to be able to give myself as needed, although I do wish that I had more doses of it… I’m supposed to make ten doses two pills apiece last for thirty days — either that or twenty doses one pill apiece, but I always need two pills. Two capsules. Whatever. It’s a lot better than none, but this here is a prime example of the War on Pain Patients.

As always, I am down for the Celes Chere life, but I also do like Terra Branford, so… there’s that.

After this, I think we’ll circle back around and play Final Fantasy V… I mean, we have that now on Steam.

This is why I am not playing Cyberpunk 2077.

When Cyberpunk 2077 came out, I was initially excited to play the game.

However, that was short-lived when I found out that a certain part of it caused people to have seizures.

I am epileptic myself, although I retain awareness and consciousness during all of my seizures, and I have no involuntary motor movement. Even though I do not appear to be photosensitive, it wasn’t — and isn’t — a risk that I was (am) willing to take, especially if I had a seizure that… laid me out, so to speak. Even though that was almost immediately patched and friends of mine have told me that that section of the game is a lot “tamer”, I still haven’t played our copy of Cyberpunk 2077. I’m waiting for a lot more information to come out about it, especially that part of the game. My seizures feel like something is shocking my brain, like my brain is an egg thrown onto hot concrete, immediately cooking. If I can avoid them, that would just be awesome.

That also reminds me that I would like to write a post all about my epilepsy since why not?

Well, I waved at them, and they waved back at me!

I waved at The Satanic Temple (the closest chapter to me) on Twitter, and they waved back.

They also know that I put in an application for that chapter, so hopefully I hear something back soon!

All of this has made me extremely thankful not to be raised religiously, though… and it’s reinforced my desire not to raise my kids religiously, and to step in when someone attempts to raise my kids religiously. Let them make those decisions from themselves. As a matter of fact, let them make those decisions for themselves when I don’t have to consent to anything, and I’ll be the happiest. That ameliorates a lot of the “drama” from it (since the most drama comes from the fact that I refuse to consent to Bub’s baptism). As it already is, I’ve come to feel increasingly more uncomfortable making a decision like that for my kids, especially when they can’t “walk back” that decision of their own will by formally leaving the religion, as I’ve already mentioned.

Meanwhile, I’m sitting here wishing that Final Fantasy XIII had a New Game+ like so many other games do. For such an impressive game, the amount that you can’t do post-game is actually comparatively really sad.

I never knew the joys of free Epic games until now.

It never even crossed my path that Epic Games had been offering free games every now and again (okay, to the tune of… once a week or so) until they began Trending on Twitter for offering Grand Theft Auto V free.

Of.

Charge.

Needless to say, as soon as I found out about that, I jumped on it, downloaded the Epic Games game installer, and downloaded that as my first free game. I first got into Grand Theft Auto with the third game in the franchise, finding one quest so difficult that I remember stealing a tank and eventually successfully catapulting myself across a bridge that I just barely got over to start the next section of the game. At any rate, getting back to what I came here to say — since downloading Grand Theft Auto V free, I’ve kept checking back to download each free game they’ve made available, although I think I’m going to have to start juggling which games I actually have downloaded copies of on our computer (all of them will remain in our library though) because one of them might have involved biting off more than I could chew with it taking up nearly three-quarters of our one terabyte hard drive on our PC. I was gobsmacked to see just how much space it actually took up when I looked at the amount of hard drive space that we actually had free on our PC and… well, yeah. You probably would be too. You probably were if you downloaded ARK: Survival Evolved and ARK Editor when I did. I have no regrets though because that is the sort of game Bub enjoys.

No regrets. I swear. Even though our PC’s hard drive is practically screaming uncle at this point. Seriously.

It is official! I have completely fixed the camcorder!

I’m not sure how I did it beyond changing a few video recording settings on the actual camcorder itself (which, in the grand scheme of things, seems banal)… but now I can record video on it and effortlessly upload that video to our laptop without any problems at all, which makes me really happy because now this laptop is not only salvageable but completely functional! I’m not sure why I didn’t think to do this sooner, but changing minor and almost banal settings on the camcorder shouldn’t have been something that completely restored the video settings on the videos from… what they used to be, these large black and green blocks that were unsalvageable messes. Of course, like I said in one of my previous entries here, with the pandemic continuing to go on there probably aren’t going to be that many videos made until this is completely over and done with. As an asthmatic, I am at elevated risk of complications if I do contract this — the kids, being as low-risk as they are, could asymptomatically incubate it for up to fourteen days, and in that time period they could effortlessly pass it on to me with all three of us being none the wiser to the fact that it had happened (until, well, it did, because I would have next to no asymptomatic period with my health history).

Meanwhile, I still think Lightning Returns is just… weird. In a really weird sort of way. Weird. It’s just weird.

Another bumpable song from this trilogy.

I don’t think Final Fantasy has ever made a song, or an inherently bad game, although I have… things to say about Lightning Returns — the game itself isn’t bad, I do like the storyline, I just hate the doomsday clock…

This is another one of my favorite songs from Final Fantasy XIII-2. I just love this game’s soundtrack.
