Lesson learned about “deleting posts”, I guess.

Not long ago, I accidentally deleted one of the protected posts that I had made in here.

It wasn’t about anything particularly major, but I’ve been testing out the ability to make them and deciding what would be “enough” for me to make a protected post… and then I went on ahead and did that. And before I had even become aware that I had deleted that post, I had run Sweep on here, so it was forever gone. At any rate, I learned my lesson when Bub’s paternal family found an old blog of mine². I don’t mind being open about some things, like how my lack of religion on a technicality has shaped and continues to shape who I am as a person. I don’t mind being open about a lot of things. But there are some things that I would rather not make accessible to every single person who finds my blog or happens to have the URL.

In other news, I’m glad that I have our computer controller’s keypad mapped to more or less everything that it needs to be mapped for to make playing games on Steam enjoyable. So far, it hasn’t let me down in any game aside from having to hit the X button a single time in Final Fantasy VI to switch targets so that I could throw a Phoenix Down at the boss, an undead train, and instantly kill it. I was struggling with being able to switch targets using the controller so just looked up how to do it with the keyboard and did it that way…

²: I didn’t even mind as much that they found the blog as I minded their reactions to me writing about the things that I did in it, as more than one person had begun to express valid concern about those things to me.

I finally got around to actually doing this.

Let me preface this post by mentioning the fact that i am so glad Onision was banned from Patreon and permanently barred from making any (more) money off of his YouTube videos. This was a long time coming.

In other news, I mapped our gaming controller using Sonic 2 as the… guinea pig for it, and I am pleased with the results so far. With any luck, this will hold for all of the other computer games we have that require, or at least strongly suggest using, a controller. I got Bub Sonic — we actually got Sonic 2 free during a promotion — Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Sonic CD, and Sonic Spinball. I’m thinking about getting Toejam & Earl and the other assorted games for Bub as well. I grew up on these, they’re nostalgic, and I feel like they are the perfect games to introduce to Bub. Since he already likes Sonic games, this is a major plus and will not go wrong.

Origin and Steam are a lot more fun than I had originally thought they were going to be. Seriously.

Did they finally actually fix this? Or…

So I’ve begun playing Ragnarok Online again, and… I found a server where you can actually instruct your Homunculus (alchemist’s… special pet) to attack with AI. This makes me unbelievably happy, because a lot of the alchemist’s appeal for me comes in the fact that it has a specialized pet that can be “trained” to attack, helping you get base XP. Once I get my Homunculus, aptly named after Bub, to base level thirty or so, it can probably comfortably take on Orcs in the Orc Dungeon from the sound of things, and I can sit there and watch him do so because I’m not comfortable with the idea of AFKmisting even if certain servers allow it. Plus, if it needs to be fed or actually dies, I do need to stand up in-game and do something about that.

I’m not sure if this was a fix orchestrated by the owners of the server or if Gravity actually relented when it came to allowing alchemists to use AI to instruct their Homunculus to automatically attack surrounding monsters, but it does make me happy. Someone was nice enough to help me level my acolyte up to priest and my merchant up to alchemist, and I may make a mage and soul linker in the future. I’m not sure whether I want my mage to become a wizard or sage, but I do know that my TaeKwon Girl will become a soul linker as soon as I can get her there. I may also make a magic-proficient ninja for kicks because, well, why not…

In other news, I also did exactly what I had been saying that I would do and only watched the part of the series finale of Supernatural where Sam and Dean were reunited with each other in Heaven. I seriously told people that I was not going to watch the absolute disaster that was the series, let alone season, finale on Netflix, and I meant it. Watching it on my computer allowed me to fast forward to that point without there being the same glitches that manifested themselves when trying to watch it on my phone. Now I have to decide whether I want to watch Lucifer or The Walking Dead. I am going to try to stay away from the CW.

Like I’ve mentioned, I am here for the Supernatural fandom, but no longer for the show if that makes sense.
