Apparently if you’ve tested positive for COVID-19, or been diagnosed with it by a clinician, you are now barred from enlisting in the military… and it also looks like you won’t be able to serve in the military as well. Given the source of this news, I’m inclined to say that this is fairly accurate. We’re talking about something that is known to cause lung damage in a large percentage of those that it does infect, and the very same something that actually caused a global pandemic. This is one of the (comparatively) few illnesses that causes what’s called “ground glass opacity” in a high percentage of cases, or at least those that warrant hospitalization. You also tend to see that in chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD), lung transplant rejection as it advances — oh, and SARS. You saw that in SARS too. So for people to downplay how severe this actually is… they need to stop. People who tout the conservative party line of “99.7% of people survive this and get over it without any problems!” need to really shut up about this because well… that isn’t true.
I know that I had seen this mentioned in other news articles, but this practically confirms all of this.
And yet there are still people out there that insist that this is not actually as severe as it is. Still. Seriously.
