I’m glad this is going in the direction that it is.

Regarding the “non-profit” that I mentioned in the most recent post to this, her state’s Attorney General has taken over a lot of the investigation because she got so many donations that she did not use for their intended purposes that she can be charged with fraud. Donations are, however, pouring in to the actual rescue that took all of the surviving cats from her property when they were retrieved, and that is exactly how it should be. As stated, the woman in the case was able to bail herself out yesterday pending arraignment — she laugh reacted a few comments people made in horror about what she had done in the name of her “non-profit rescue charity” (which was screenshot), then began to massively delete things and go into hiding. This shouldn’t become something that she can just walk or run away from, especially if that means moving to a new state, changing the name that she goes by, and lying like this again to get folks to donate.

That said, I continue to be glad that her state’s Attorney General is taking this matter seriously.

I don’t really know how to tag this, so…

If you haven’t already heard, the owner of “non-profit” Meows of Love (Leah Cowen) and her husband were taken into custody for animal abuse and torture. Almost thirty counts, too. This is horrifying to read about.

At the time I’m writing this post, it looks like Leah has bonded out of jail, but that her husband has not.

I was familiar with her alleged non-profit, so I knew a little bit about it. Finding this out was particularly heartbreaking, though. On top of that, I found out that she and her husband had previously had their daughter removed from their care for child abuse — a few of Leah’s family members have come forward talking about it stating that she has visits with her child, but that she isn’t allowing any of her family members to come forward and take custody of her child out of malice. Now that… a well-established pattern of cruelty to animals and children has been established, I can only hope that her local family court changes their minds on this, allows interested family members to come forward about taking custody of her in the hope that she can be placed with suitable family members, and considers terminating her and her husband’s remaining, residual parental rights over this child. I don’t think it’s safe for her to be around children or animals, and I hope that something is legally done to prevent this from ever occurring again. She doesn’t need to be given a second chance to abuse a child, and she definitely doesn’t need to be allowed to own pets or continue running the sham that was her non-profit. Her state’s Attorney General has already been cooperative and helpful pointing out how people can try to get refunds on any donations that they made “Meows Of Hope”, as well as various legal channels that can be pursued for the fact that she was fraudulently claiming to run a rescue non-profit not spending the intended donations on animals in that.

The wheels of justice may have turned slower here than we would have liked, but at least they’re turning.

Not that the thought of it isn’t nice, but…

I’ve had people suggest to me that I should get a few more domain names, and the ones that I would want to get are available (I’m not saying what they are unless, or until, I decide to get them), but… I don’t know what I would even put on them to make them worthwhile, and I’m not going to steal something from someone who might otherwise make a whole site of their own out of it and park it. I may still have decent graphics on here, having made a lot of my own back when LiveJournal was more popular, but I haven’t actually made my own layout from scratch in quite awhile. I’m sure I could if I devoted time to it, though.

I see that site collectives are starting to make a resurgence, and I’d love to see self-hosted blogs do so too!

This resolved itself much quicker than I’d thought!

After only an additional day of investigating, I have the second monitor hooked up and functional!

Entirely as expected, all I needed was a different cord because another HDMI cable and splitter was not cutting it giving me the results that I wanted in order to be able to game and stream on a second monitor.

I’ve set up almost everything that I want (and, in the case of streaming, need) on that second monitor, and am deliberating upgrading our computer’s webcam after so long. I’m also considering getting a streaming keypad to be able to queue things up even more easily and with no more than single button presses. That should cover just about everything “professional” I’ll need to stream, and stream well, at this point in time!

With luck, I should be able to take pictures of these things as they come along over the weeks and months!
