I need help coming up with better subject lines…

I still have mixed feelings about the passing of Smash Mouth’s lead singer.

I don’t feel like he should be blamed for his liver disease, even if his alcoholism did cause or contribute to it, even if it had anything to do with his eventual demise. But I do have problems with the fact that he insisted on having concerts during the worst of the pandemic knowing that it was during the worst of the pandemic, eventually going so far as to give people Nazi salutes. If this was on the part of some kind of neural degeneration, I feel like his band members should have intervened as things started to get bad, and apparently they never did. Personally, I find it the easiest just not to talk about Smash Mouth (Smashmouth? Smash Mouth?) any more, even if I did listen to their music growing up. Conversations about what he did or did not have control over just tend to get confusing after awhile, and I don’t feel like having debates or discussions about him beyond what’s already been said, with most of it having been said on Facebook.

Remember the whole heart problems thing again?

I put in a refill request for the medication that my primary care physician put me on late last week, it’s… this week now, I have none of it left and am resuming being symptomatic. In spite of that, I’ve still managed to hear a whole lot of nothing back from my doctor’s office. I’ll be contacting them over this next week unless things necessitate sooner care than that again. I would have thought that, at the very least, a refill or two would have been put on this medication… but no. No, it wasn’t. I was given a thirty-day supply of a medication that made me cough uncontrollably and to the point of vocal dysfunction for the first half of that, and by the time it actually began to help, I had none left and my doctor hadn’t responded to the refill request.

This song and dance is going to be fun (and what I mean by that is not fun) if I have to keep repeating it.

Why does this honestly not surprise me now?

Given that so many people use Discord for so many different things, finding out that Discord essentially has manifestos written on it (and yeah, I’ve seen some of them actually referenced on the news) doesn’t surprise me as much as I think it should. I use Discord to keep in touch with friends and to network for streaming — that’s actually something that I want to resume doing, and sooner rather than later — so… knowing that Discord is being used like this is not the best news, but it’s also not something that I have any control over.
