After having given this some serious thought…

I’ve decided that should I pass away while the majority of these social networking sites continue to be active that I would like my accounts on them deleted after they are given proof that I have passed away. Luckily for me, Facebook actually allows you to select that now. You have to jump through a whole bunch of hoops affirming that you are “sure” (yes, I am sure) that you would in fact like your account to be deleted after your death that I’m positive you wouldn’t have to jump through if you selected someone to be your legacy contact to update your Facebook in the event of your passing, but I mean, it is what it is at this point. For several years, I did have a legacy contact, although I came to realize that I had set one more for them than I did for myself and that if I were going to be making these kinds of decisions about what to do with my social networking accounts after my passing, why not just have done what I want to have done with them to begin with? And should both of the boys’ fathers outlive me — or even one of them — I don’t want any information about us to fall into the wrong hands, or to even potentially fall into the wrong hands. I would just as well continue to have them have no information on any of us at all. That said, for a whole lot of reasons I just went ahead and set both of my accounts to be deleted if someone can give Facebook proof that I have passed away. (I might also delete the second account before that point, though. We will just have to see.)
