the blog of a disabled mother who likes to game, and "get in the pit"

I accidentally got the shot in the middle of him jumping off of something and knew I had to keep it.
My oldest son has been found eligible for adulthood disability benefits, to include continued receipt of his late father’s Social Security benefits as he has rightfully and justifiably been deemed a Disabled Adult Child! This is a major weight off of my chest, him clearing the Age-18 redetermination hurdle like he did, even though it took several months for the feds to collect all of his medical information (even though I gave them his IQ testing twice myself to be on the safe side), and I thought his survivor’s benefits would pause until they came to some kind of determination. I am extremely glad to have found out that this is not the case! My son will always have access to the things that help him continue to thrive and I am unbelievably happy that he will!
When I got mail from Social Security, I thought for a whole second that my oldest son’s adulthood disability determination was going to continue to take forever and that the state of Texas would just drag their asses.
Come to find out that my baby remains eligible for SSI and survivor’s benefits into adulthood!
I am so thankful for him to continue to have the tools he needs to be as successful as he can be. I love this.

I’ve been planning Bub’s fifteenth birthday, which is essentially cake and presents how he likes it.
