I’m still not quite sure what to label Among Us.

However, I’ve gotten back to hosting games within my esports org… I’m not sure if I’ve written about them in here yet but I know I need to mention them in here at some point and take pictures of me in the merch that I have for this org (and note the seriousness at which I take this esports organization as compared to the others I’ve been in before). We took a few weeks off from it where there was Thanksgiving, then Christmas, then less interest in the game, and then all of a sudden right after New Year’s everyone is talking in general chat about how they want to resume playing it again and how they want me to resume hosting games since I’ve hosted most of them for the organization. And in general. In general. Which is meta, and I don’t care…

I am slowly but surely rounding the corner here!

I don’t feel quite as bad as I felt when symptoms first began to show, but…

“COVID is just the flu”, “COVID is no big deal” is a hot mess and I will not die on that hill.

In the interim I’ve been hosting Among Us games and lobbies for my esports organization which has been a lot more fun than I thought it would be! I didn’t expect quite as many people to still be playing Among Us and wanting to play it, but we’ve had turnout between six and fifteen people per game and I am so here for that.

We’re back at it again, friends and family. We are.

Bub and I have resumed playing Among Us more, to the delight of… well, both of us!

I see the changes that have been made to the game with recent updates and do have to say that I like the majority of them. I like Hide & Seek being an actual thing that you can opt into playing with other players now, even if Hide & Seek isn’t exactly something that I want to play myself. I really like the fact that you can choose games based on difficulty, so if you’re a novice you don’t get stuck with really experienced players.

I should have expected this to become a problem.

In case it needs to be said, I feel like adults scaring children on Among Us VR will never be appropriate.

There is nothing even remotely humorous or even funny about this, especially when the bad actors in question — and, look, I don’t care who you are, where you stream, if you stream (although that makes it even worse as far as this whole thing is concerned), or how many people are subscribed to your streams or watch them, you’re still a bad actor if you do this — are scaring children to the point that they scream and cry, and then getting their supporters to laugh over it. You wouldn’t be doing these things if not for clout, and you wouldn’t be posting clips or VODs of these to the streaming sites that you use if you didn’t want your supporters to see what you were doing and laugh right along with you. Children should safely be able to play video games in… what is it, 2022 now? We’re still in 2022, right? Give them at least that, especially when the game in question is a family-friendly game. Don’t actually make Innersloth go to the time and trouble of tightening up rules in these games to make this harder to do, even though I would be in full support of them if they actually did this — like making it to where children couldn’t game with adults, that reports were acted on quicker and more stringently, anything that would actually help this problem out…
