I hate how annoying these purchases have to be.

I got our gaming laptop back and the keyboard is no longer scuffed! Bub is stoked.

In the interim, I am now shopping around for a three to five-terabyte HDD that will fit inside the HDD bay of a laptop to maximize the space that Bub has to hold games. If these aren’t made yet, I’ll keep my eye out until something gets made that I can improve his hard drive space with. At this point, I might settle for a larger external HD, even though I don’t like the idea of having to hook an external hard drive up to a laptop unless I have no other choice. Admittedly I am better at putting hard drives into desktops than I am laptops, and hooking up external hard drives to… whatever they need to be hooked up to than this, but I’ll manage.

I am also continuing to pre-order games for Bub that will come out around or before Christmas, to cover a few of those purchases at a time per month so that they don’t get to be too much in the last few months before Christmas! Monster has been collecting DVDs to watch in the portable DVD player that a friend of mine was nice enough to gift him, so I pick up a few of those each month with the intent to be able to give him something he really wants for… well, his birthday and Christmas. Luckily some of the more obscure cartoon DVDs that he manages to find through Google or YouTube are available for really affordable prices.

If I can manage to find a larger HDD for a laptop than what we currently have though, I will go on and get it.

I should have gotten around to this sooner, but…

Even though we’ve been using the… desktop to do almost everything that we’ve been doing, I decided to begin repairing the laptop since we’ve had it for several years now and it is beginning to show signs of age. There are some keys on it that have scuffed to the point that Bub doesn’t want to use them any more, and I know the battery in it needs to be changed because we might actually have gotten this laptop at the start of the pandemic. Almost all of these things are things that I can do from home, and what I may need help with I have a fairly good idea where to get that help from in a city that boasts… what, 100,000 people? At any rate, this is a city that I would like to move out of, although not precisely for that reason. Until then, I’ll be working on fixing this laptop… and if that doesn’t pan out, as these things tend to arrive at old age faster than their desktop counterparts, I’ll begin looking for another laptop in the interim. It is what it is. I do like this one, but the keyboard scuffs exceedingly easily and I am not the biggest fan of the world of replacing HDDs in them.

I am kind of torn though because if they make 5TB HDDs, I would like one in the bay that I have available.

I would also like not to open this thing up more than I absolutely have to, so I am looking at limiting that.

We’re back at it again, friends and family. We are.

Bub and I have resumed playing Among Us more, to the delight of… well, both of us!

I see the changes that have been made to the game with recent updates and do have to say that I like the majority of them. I like Hide & Seek being an actual thing that you can opt into playing with other players now, even if Hide & Seek isn’t exactly something that I want to play myself. I really like the fact that you can choose games based on difficulty, so if you’re a novice you don’t get stuck with really experienced players.

That only took me how many years now?

So far I’ve more or less rebranded everything of mine online to be related to Serah Farron from the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy, which I do not mind in the slightest… I like her the most, and it makes it that much easier for people to recognize me online (or to know that it is me). That doesn’t stop me from liking other characters — almost as much — anyway, but it makes everything of mine a lot simpler to manage. (My second choice Final Fantasy character would quite likely be Rinoa Heartilly, especially due to the sorcery lore that’s in Final Fantasy VIII.) I’ve also begun to make social networking accounts of mine professional for purposes of resuming content creation and streaming, although I’m not quite where I need to be before I resume posting most videos on YouTube. That platform is going to be treated differently than I treat my Twitch platform, which will probably always be the primary place that I stream. However, my goal has always been “be better than Onision”, and we all saw what happened to him after he was finally deplatformed by YouTube…

In the interim, I’ve continued to stay out of the Discord servers that I’ve mentioned no longer wanting to be part of even if I did “grow up” with some of these people. (Some of you may or may not be surprised at how many of these people I don’t remember, because my Internet experience as a child and adolescent fundamentally differed from many of theirs in pivotal ways… that, and I do not currently live in an environment where “Internet friends” are not seen as something other than jaded, so I was not as able to get close to these people like some of them got to each other being in more permissive and supportive environments. This isn’t something that I feel as though I regret, though.) For me this will be a long-term thing simply because I’m too old for, and no longer want to put up with, all of the drama. I’m fine without it.)

I’ve been invited to some of their newer servers, asked to come back to them, even asked to reconsider my stance “with the door left open in case I change my mind”, and have respectfully declined all invitations.
